Taster Sessions

We are offering ‘Taster Sessions’ for those interested in taking up beekeeping.   The two hour sessions are designed to give an experience of looking into a hive, how it feels to be surrounded by buzzing insects and provides an insight into the world of the honeybee.

Each session is open for 8 potential beekeepers, who, after the obligatory risk assessment will be kitted out in WNKLBA bee suits.   A short talk about the honey bee and the equipment needed for keeping bees will be given.  The WNKLBA demonstrators will then open up two hives and aim to show live bees, the brood box, eggs, larva and sealed brood, the super, nectar and capped cells.

The sessions take place at the dates and times stated below.    If the weather is not suitable on the day, the demonstration will be postponed to another date.  Participators are asked to bring their own wellington boots, and the cost per person is £10.00.
