| Penny Snell (Vice Chairman) heads the Science Administration group at a large research institute in Cambridge; weekends are busy on our smallholding where her special responsibilities are the bees (of course) and the alpacas. She has been keeping bees for six years now and has five hives. During the summer months Penny is to be found manning stands at the Sandringham Show and at other Norfolk events where WNKLBA has display stands. She has been a committee member for 6 years and has a particular interest in encouraging young people to enjoy bees. | |

Lorraine Gibson (Secretary) As well as managing ‘the girls', together with her husband Terry, Lorraine also enjoys a number of other interests which include reading, cooking, local history research as well as being a keen amateur gardener and plantswoman. |

Chris Snell (Treasurer)
Chris is a retired Director of drug discovery research in the international pharmaceutical industry, but now applies his energies to the five acre smallholding in Runcton Holme with Vice chairperson Penny. Chris does hive construction, honey harvesting and label design and printing. Chris is also an active member of Norfolk Smallholders Training Group. |

Judy Heal (WNKLBA Representative at NBKA ) Judy's mother and grandmother kept bees. Destiny has led Judy to take theory at Easton and practical at WNKLBA so that she could fill her WBCs with bees. She also runs a B&B so customers get honey for breakfast, which gets them all talking bees and there is great sympathy for bee health issues. |

Terry Gibson (Education and Flitcham Apiary Coordinator). Terry was introduced to beekeeping some 30 years ago by a colleague in the police force. He kept bees for 7 years and then was 'moved on'. He took up beekeeping again after retirement and got some bees from Bill Disdle, who managed to persuade Lorraine to join in the fun too. |

Stuart Grant
Stuart took up beekeeping in 2008, after retirement, to complement his gardening, particularly fruit growing. Stuart's background is in manufacturing, in papermaking, chemicals and then plastics. |

| Kelly Thrower. At a very early age Kelly had a fascination with collecting insects, amphibians, birds and most other things and kept them in her bedroom much to Mums horror. After Horticulture college and a few years away working on various estates around the country, Kelly returned home again to develop her own business in Gardening. Now, with Dad (Barry Thrower) and sister (Tracey Garrad) she has been on various beekeeping courses and is a valued addition to the committee |

| John Woodford (BBKA Representative). John keeps 12 hives on 2 sites in the King's Lynn area. He has been keeping bees for about 12 years and has passed the BBKA basic exam. John intends to breed some gentle Queens from his own stocks. He likes giving illustrated talks to anyone organisation who will have him! John is a believer in IPM as the way forward in controlling bee diseases. | |

Margaret Woodford (Show Entries). As well as sorting out John, Margaret has been a professional florist for many years and a very experienced caterer too. Margaret will be looking after the Honey Show entries this year, where her organizational skills will be very evident. |
The committee is elected by the members of the association. Once elected, each committee member has to stand down or be re-elected every year. We always encourage new blood to join and provide new impetus to the association.

Our PRESIDENT is Don Cooper who began his beekeeping at school aged 12 under the guidance of Fred Richards, Norfolk’s County Beekeeping Instructor and won the Schools County Shield in 1955 for .. ‘Naming 100 things you may find in a hive’. He went on to work for Brother Adam at Buckfast for a total of 6 years and later as a Bee Disease Inspector for 25 years. After retirement in 2000, Don set up a 150 hive honey farm although he is now concentrating on producing nucs and queens.
VICE PRESIDENTS are Henry Bellingham M.P. and Sir Jeremy Bagge
Henry Bellingham attended Eton and then Magdelene College, Cambridge where he gained a degree in law in 1977 - taking a short service commission in the Guards for a year between school and university. He trained at the Inns of Court School of Law, and joined the Middle Temple in 1978 and practised as a barrister for eight years. He first entered Parliament at the 1983 election, but lost his seat at the 1997 election. Nonetheless, he contested same seat at the election in 2001, and won it back. He was re-elected in 2005 with a 9000 vote majority.
Henry Bellingham was appointed as a Shadow Minister for Trade and Industry in July 2002, before becoming an Opposition Whip in May 2005. Since November 2006 he has been a Shadow Minister for the Department of Constitutional Affairs. He lives in his constituency, in the village of Burnham Market. He married Emma Whiteley in August 1993 in Horsham, and they have a son.
Landowner and farmer Sir Jeremy Bagge has run the 1,870-acre Stradsett Estate in West Norfolk since 1984. The business of Stradsett Estate Farms involves extensive arable cultivation, and cattle for beef. This includes 1,065 acres of cereals, 270 acres of sugar beet, 280 acres of grassland, and 105 acres used for other purposes.
Sir Jeremy, was educated at Eton and qualified as an accountant with Touche Ross & Co in 1968. He acted as financial adviser to HIH The Crown Prince of Ethiopia in 1969-70, and was a partner of financial consultants Emson & Dudley in 1970-75 before running his own financial consultancy firm from 1975 until 1983. Sir Jeremy has held a vast number of public offices, and was High Sheriff of Norfolk in 2003-04. He is a keen supporter of local charities, and his interests also include local history, shooting, stalking, skiing, light aviation and sailing.
We also have honorary members including Pam Rix, Jeff Rounce, Paul Metcalf and, with effect from 2010, since he has just paid his subscription for 2009 and doesn't feel he could ask for a refund, Ernie Dix - who has just retired as Chairman after 34 years of committed service to the Association.
